When a patient is exhibiting multiple symptoms and complaints, it is very important that the blood study cast the widest possible net over the functions of as many organ systems as possible.
Often, the actual culprit of abnormal system functions or chemistry pathways may itself be silent and not suspected as the problem. The Nutritional Science-based initial blood panel is the same for all patients and examines almost all systems. The differences are in the additional studies that are added depending on a patient's history and symptoms and also age and gender. A patient’s entire blood element levels are compared to healthy levels calculated for them depending on their age and gender. Standard medical ‘normals’ are listed, but not used as they are considered to be statistical and average levels in an unhealthy population pool.
Blood levels are color-coded depending on comparisons to Medical normals and are calculated for ‘healthy’ levels. Based on the blood element levels and balances, certain specific supplements, dietary changes, and lifestyle alterations may be suggested. Normally, only 10 to 12 weeks are suggested for these protocols. After that time, a reassessment is done, and blood elements that are seriously abnormal are rechecked for improvement. Critical elements that are discovered are immediately referred to a Medical Specialist.
Elements are added to the NSS comprehensive panel depending on the specific symptoms, history, and concerns of each individual patient. NSS can order a wide range of condition-specific tests including:
The goal of the NSS Comprehensive Panel, based on functional medicine principals, is to see if there are any systemic reasons for the patient’s health concerns. Having said this, however, only certain patients qualify for this study. Often patients under severe life stress or under heavy medications such as Anti-Psychotic drugs will show a skewed blood chemistry, or even at times, no blood abnormals that would explain their complaints.
Our goal is to offer patients a wide range of options for determining their current health status and areas of possible risk as far as their blood chemistry is concerned.
